Area Information
Created as a result of municipal amalgamations in January 1998, the Town of Mississippi Mills is made up of the former Townships of Ramsay and Pakenham and the Town of Almonte.
Lanark County is comprised of eight municipalities, including the towns of Carleton Place, Perth and Mississippi Mills and the townships of Beckwith, Montague, Drummond/North Elmsley, Lanark Highlands and Tay Valley.
The Pakenham Bridge is a stone bridge with five arches that crosses the Mississippi River at the town of Pakenham within Mississippi Mills. The bridge measures 82 m. (268 feet) long, 6.7 m (22 feet) high, and 7.6 m. (25 feet) wide. It is the only one of this type in North America. Mississippi Mills
