Standpipe Immage and information courtesy Town of Kerrobert The Kerrobert Water Tower was built in 1914 and featured a 30.48 m. high standpipe. The water tower has eleven (11) 2.14 m. high rings of riveted steel and provides a storage capacity of 709,190 litres of water. The Tower was built for a total cost of $49,000. Messrs. Powers & Murdoch were the Engineers and Fred Read was the Engineer and Surveyor of Kerrobert's first waterworks system. In 1924 water from an infiltration gallery and flowing well were collected in a 58,000 gallon reservoir and pumped by Triplex Power Pump at 300 gallons per minute to the standpipe. Gedney Gray & Co. laid the Tower foundation, installed the water mains, hydrants and valves. Peter Leitch constructed the pumphouse and the Tower housing. Mr. R. Coe was the first Engineer of the Town's water plant at a salary of $75.00 per month. |

National Ironworks provided the cast iron pipes and specials. Kerr Engine Co. was the supplier of the valves and hydrants. Allis Chalmers supplied the kerosene engine and power pump. Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. provided the steel tower.
