Plattsville was named in 1855 after its founder, Samuel Platts. He came to Canada in 1844. Mr. Platt was the first postmaster and also served as Justice of the Peace for many years.
- Blandford-Blenheim township, created in 1975 with the amalgametion of county townships Blandford and Blenheim which included the following communities: Blandford, Blandford Station, Blink Bonnie, Bond's Corners, Bright, Canning, Chesterfield, Creditville, Drumbo, Eastwood, Etonia, Forest Estates, Gobles, Maple Lake Park, Park Haven, Perry's Corners, Plattsville, Princeton, Ratho, Richwood, Showers Corners, Washington, Windfall and Wolverton.
