Area Information
Location: Long Sault and Ingleside were created in the late 195s to accommodate 650 displaced people when their communities were flooded to widen the St. lawrence Seaway. Inundation started on July 1, 1958.

The nine lost villages were: Mille Roches, Moulinette, Wales, Dickinson’s Landing, Farran’s Point, and Aultsville as well as the hamlets of Maple Grove, Santa Cruz and Woodlands.

Of all the flooded communities, Mille Roches lies deepest in the water, 12.2 meters (40 feet) below the surface. Its outline can still be seen under the right conditions. The location has become a popular spot for divers. Compilation
