Area information. The Village was incorporated in 1874 and remained a self-governing Village until 2003 when it amalgamated with surrounding communities and became part of the Municipality of Trent Hills. Hastings was officially incorporated as a village in 1874. In 1882, a devastating fire destroyed the downtown core of buildings and businesses, which crippled the village. Hastings is situated on the Trent-Severn Waterway. Village of Hastings
