Location: The name “Gananoque ” has the distinction of having several meanings; “ Water Rising over Rocks” or “Garden of the Great Spirit”. Joel Stone who arrived in 1793, a refugee Loyalist, who became a prosperous entrepreneur, who started with 700 acres and a flour mill, and then saw potential to develop our industrial foundation. Gananoque also played an essential role in the War of 1912 as a forwarding point on the supply line moving up the St Lawrence River from Montreal and Cornwall to Kingston.(34 km to the west. Gananoque is a town in the Leeds and Grenville area and located on three of Canada's busiest transportation routes: Highway 401, the Canadian National Railway and the St. Lawrence Seaway. Town Gananoque
