Tower Information. Built:1957. Height: 40 m.
Capacity: 3,409,570 liters. Constructed by: Horton Steel Works Ltd. of Fort Erie at a cost of $225,000.
Top diameter: 25 m.
Riser: 2.40 m. diameter holds approximately 136.380 liters of the tank's 3,409,570 liters capacity. Walkway: 30.5 m. above grade.
Tower legs: There are twelfe 1.20 m. diameter support columns

Tower Maintenance. A final climbing structure is fixed to the bowl to enable ascent to the maintenance access hatch located approx. 3/4 of the way up to the bowl and also to the 0.60 m. diameter vent/manhole cover at the top of the bowl. from the maintenance hatch at the top of the bowl workers can descent to the base of the bowl to complete inspections. There is also an observation deck half way down the bowl with an 8' diameter.
 
 
Area information. In 1789 some fifty United Empire Loyalists settled here. A visit in the spring of 1816, by Sir Francis Gore, Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada and his wife, Lady Arabella, inspired the residents to change the name of their settlement to Belleville in honour of the fair lady. the arrival of the Grand Trunk Railway in 1856 gave Belleville a link with Montreal and Toronto. For many years the railway was Belleville’s largest employer. In 1866, discovery of gold near Madoc, earned Belleville the name “Gateway to the Golden North” as miners stopped for supplies on their way north of the city. City of Belleville
