These octagonal shaped cedar warer tanks were constructed by the Canadian Pacific Railway approximately every 80 km's (50 miles), the distance a steam locomotive could safely travel between water refills.
This CPR Water Tower was built in 1904 and was both a federal and provincial heritage site. The tower burned to the ground on April 4, 2008.
