Area Information
The City of Flin Flon is situated along the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border, 743 km northwest of Winnipeg. The discovery of gold around Amisk Lake in 1910 led people from all over Canada into this area. The construction of the Island Falls Dam on the Churchill River (about 95 km Northwest of Flin Flon) and the extension of the Canadian National Railway line from The Pas in 1928 also significantly contributed to the growth and flourish of Flin Flon.
In 1933, Flin Flon was incorporated as a municipality, a town in 1946 and status of a city in 1970. City of Flin Flon
