The Hamsterley Farm water tower was built in 1911. It was once the headquarters Hamsterley Farm Jam Factory owned by Algemon and Letitia Peacse.
The tower was originally a tank on a raised platform. In 1933 it was enclosed as a stable, with hayloft and tackroom in the tank section. Windows were added, it was shingled and the tank portion was covered in rough weatherboards. The University of Victoria owns the tower and until recently used it for storing boats and other equipment. There was a fire on the night of April 30, 2004.
(the damage was estimated to be $75,000. The structure is still standing and boarded up. (Source: Saanich Fire Department, January 2, 2005)
