Left picture: Water to the mill was supplied through creek diversions. The last 20 m. ran below the mill buildings through this steel race (diameter, 1.52 m.)

: The mills wheel has a diameter of 5.8 m. (19 ft.), a width of 1.7 m. (5'-6") and scoops every three inches.
The water-powered grist and saw mill, the Dakota Mill, operated on Cedar Springs Road until the mid-1970’s. The Mill was destroyed by fire on 17 November 1979. A few remnants of the old Dakota Mill can still be found in the field just north of the Dakota Mill Bridge on Cedar Springs Road.
