Weeping tiles. Drain pipe. Drainage pipe.

Weeping tiles are laid around the footings of a building to drain sub-surface water away from the foundation walls. The weeping ties, also called drain pipes, are covered with gravel to assist drainage and to prevent clogging.
12" Clay pipes were used until the mid 1970s. Joints would be covered with strips of building paper or some other protective material. Sometimes pipe sections become dislodged, allowing sand and silt to enter the system. This is one of the main reasons why weeping tiles become clogged and ineffective, resulting in damp or wet foundation walls (lower section) and basement floor.
The clay pipes are still popular but are now mainly used for storing wine bottles!
One piece drain pipes. The use of fabric covered corrugated plastic drain pipes became standard in the mid 1970s. This drain pipe is available in coils of 100 ft. and more.
