Cathedral Ceiling Ventilator
This is a through-the-roof type of ventilator that works much like a bathroom exhaust fan but, on the outside, looks more like a roof wind turbine.
Warm moist air will get trapped near the top but before it can enter the roof structure the ventilator expels this air to the exterior.

Cathedral Ventilation. Cathedral Ventilator. Continuous Ridge Vent.
The best way to provide adequate ventilation is to install a continuous soffit vent near the bottom and a ridge vent at the top.
There should be a minimum of 3" (75 mm) of air space between the insulation and roof sheathing. The rafter depth can be extended if there is not enough room for insulation and ventilation.
Another option is to install a Cathedral Ceiling Ventilator. Failure to provide adequate ventilation for flat, Cathedral, or pitched roofs may cause deterioration of the roof structure.
