The pool shed should be located fairly close to the pool. In my neck of the woods they are usually called cabanas or change rooms. It is a good idea to build the cabana on a concrete pad or, if there is enough room, on the concrete pool deck.
For new pool installations it should be easy to extend the pool deck to accommodate the cabana. Beside serving as a changing area, the pool cabana can also be used to house pool equipment and for accessory storage. Some owners go even as far as transforming the cabana into an entertainment facility by installing wet bars and showers.
Cabanas come in a large variety of styles, shapes and sizes. Once you have made up your mind about what you need or want it, is time to hire a contractor.
You also can purchase a pre-fabricated or cabana kit and erect it yourselves.
Some municipalities require a building permit so check with your local building department. There also may be square footage, height or setback restrictions.
