How to Calculate the Cost of Running Appliances
...
The figures in the table below and the following equation will help you to determine the cost of running an appliance. The more you know the more you will save!
Wattage x hours used : 1000 = kwh
kwh x cost per kwh = your cost
Example 1 A dishwasher used 20 hrs. per month
1300 x 20 : 1000 = 26 kwh
26 kwh x $0.07* = $1.82 per month
Example 2 A furnace motor running 24/7 for 30 days
350 x 24 x 30 : 1000 = 252 kwh
252 kwh x $0.07* = $17.64 per month
* Call your local utility or check your bill for the cost per kwh (kilowatt hour)
