Quartz kitchen counter tops. Quartz bathroom vanity tops
Quartz is the forth hardest mineral in existence. In fact, quartz is the hardest non-precious stone that can be found on earth, making it a very durable material for a vanity top or kitchen counter top.
Because quartz grows in clusters and does not form into solid rock like granite (which contains up to 60% quartz), or limestone (marble),
it cannot be used in its natural state for the manufacturing of countertops.
Quartz kitchen countertops and bathroom vanity tops are made of
93% quartz, 7% resin, colours and binders. A mixture of various sizes of quartz and colors are mixed with resins and a small amount of colour and compressed under 100 tons of pressure. This eliminates any voids to create a totally non-porous surface.
Unlike other natural and engineered stone, kitchen countertops and vanity tops made of quartz are resistant to heat and are highly resistant to permanent stains from fruit juices, food coloring, coffee, tea, wine, grape juice, nail polish and felt tip markers.
Because of its tremendous hardness the counters are nearly scratch proof. Many manufacturers of Quartz vanity tops and kitchen countertops provide a warranty of 10 years or more.
MAINTENANCE
No sealing, polishing or reconditioning is needed. Simply wash with soap and warm water.
Because the tops are non-porous they never need a sealer.
Quartz products are certified for use in food preparation areas by NSF International.
